Participation in the IADB Annual Meeting

DUTO has just made an outstanding participation in the Inter American Development Bank Anual Meeting, after have being invited as one of the 25 Agents of Change selected the past year by the Bank and by MTV LA, with the help of Ashoka. There the company had the honor to share experiences with a group of amazing young peolple from all the Americas that were being representing all kind of social projects that are “changing their local realities generating a global change phenomenon”. They were selected among 7000 projects posed.

One of the more relevant events at the meeting was the “Youth as Changing Agents”, for which four young people were selected among the social projects that were invited to the meeting. They were Ivette Mercado from the “Martadero” Project from Bolivia, Vanina Sessarego from “Un Techo para mi País” from Argentina, Jaime Cheuque that works with the Mapuche’s Community in Chile and the DUTO member John Alexis Guerra Gómez. They serve as vocals from the thoughts and questions posed by the Young People of America and also were sharing with the IDB President Luis Alberto Moreno and the MTV LA President Pierluiggi Gazzolo, with the conducting of the beautiful MTV host Ilana Sod.

As an additional accomplishment, DUTO were selected to read the Youth Declaration to the whole Governors Forum. The declaration was a document created with the reflexions of all the young participants of the Forum, this document wants to promote the importance to support the all the Young people of America as a chance to transform our society. This speech has a very special effect among all the governors and the other participants of the forum that celebrate the participation of the Youth in the event. DUTO also uses this opportunity to ask for support for the development of the pilot test of IRIS, the system that allows a visually impaired children to see colors and shapes with his hands, and by this give them the opportunity to access better education levels. This call was attended by the International Development Bank that shows themselves interested in help in the financiation of the test that will be excetuded shortly in the Pablo Emilio Cardona School from Pereira City.
